La presente investigación, se interesa por comprender el significado de Ser Mujer para madres cuidadoras de niñas y niños con Síndrome de Down (SD), para lo cual, se cuenta con la participación de ocho mujeres madres cuidadoras, pertenecientes a la Asociación Colombiana Síndrome de Down (ASDOWN), quienes a través de la narrativa, exponen el sentir desde el interior de las experiencias y relaciones establecidas cotidianamente en el contexto familiar y social, así como, la perspectiva referente a la manera en que éstos le imponen hábitos y conductas vinculadas al deber ser de lo femenino y de la maternidad. En ese sentido, la investigación emplea como método el enfoque cualitativo, se encuentra sustentada mediante el paradigma comprensivo interpretativo, siguiendo la teoría hermenéutica crítica, en clave del feminismo y con un alcance de tipo exploratorio. En efecto, enmarca categorías como: mujer, cuidadora, familia y contexto social, desde las cuales, a partir de lo expresado y mediante la aplicación de una entrevista semi estructurada a las participantes; se reconocen las voces alrededor de la forma en la que se vive el género, el cuidado y la maternidad, además de identificar la relación con su contexto familiar y social, asociado al reconocimiento de lo que implica Ser Mujer. Como resultado, se construye una herramienta educacional que aporta desde el Trabajo Social a la comprensión y el reconocimiento del hecho de Ser Mujer, en las madres cuidadoras de niñas y niños con SD.

The present research is interested in understanding the meaning of Being a Woman for mothers who care for children with Down Syndrome (DS), for which, there is the participation of eight female caregivers, belonging to the Colombian Association for Down Syndrome ( ASDOWN); who, through the narrative, expose their feelings from the inside of their experiences and relationships established daily in their family and social context, manifesting in turn, their perspective regarding the way in which they impose habits and behaviors linked to the duty to be of the feminine and of motherhood. In this sense, the research uses the qualitative approach as a method, it is supported by the comprehensive interpretative paradigm, following the critical hermeneutical theory, in the key of feminism and with an exploratory scope. Indeed, it frames categories such as: woman, caregiver, family and social context, from which, based on what was expressed and through the application of a semi-structured interview to the participants; The voices around the way in which gender, care and motherhood are lived are recognized, in addition to identifying the relationship with their family and social context, associated with the recognition of what Being a Woman implies. As a result, an educational tool is built that contributes from Social Work towards the understanding and recognition of the fact of Being a Woman, in the mothers who care for girls and boys with DS.
