dc.description.abstract | El aceite esencial de Origanum vulgare es reconocido por sus propiedades antimicrobianas y
antioxidantes atribuidas a compuestos como el carvacrol. Estas propiedades hacen de este
aceite una solución prometedora para la bioconservación de alimentos y la acuicultura. Estudios
recientes sugieren que la aplicación del aceite esencial de orégano en la dieta de Oreochromis
niloticus (tilapia del Nilo) puede reducir significativamente el riesgo de infecciones, fortalecer
el sistema inmunológico y mejorar la calidad del producto final destinado al consumo humano.
Además de sus beneficios durante el ciclo de vida del pez, el aceite esencial de orégano puede
emplearse para la conservación de los filetes de tilapia cuando no se consumen inmediatamente,
lo cual es crucial para mantener la calidad y seguridad de los alimentos durante su
almacenamiento. Esto ofrece una alternativa viable y segura frente a los conservantes sintéticos
que se asocian con problemas de salud y resistencia microbiana.
El uso de aceites esenciales en la acuicultura y la industria alimentaria responde a la demanda de
soluciones efectivas y respetuosas con el medio ambiente. Al mejorar tanto la calidad del
producto final como la sostenibilidad de los métodos de conservación, el aceite esencial de
Origanum vulgare se posiciona como una herramienta valiosa para la seguridad alimentaria y la
